Qualitative Market Research: Our Services and Expertise

At DJS Research Ltd we offer bespoke services. We have no ‘off-the shelf’ packages to sell, we look at each project with a fresh pair of eyes.  After listening to your requirements, we would recommend the most appropriate qualitative methodology.  This would then typically be designed, conducted, analysed and presented back to you by one of our Senior Consultants.  However, we are happy to conduct parts of the process (e.g. recruitment or moderation) depending on your needs.  Supporting our Senior Consultants we have all the facilities typically required for qualitative research including professional telephone and field recruiters and viewing facilities for group discussions.

 

Just some of the various types of qualitative research methodologies we offer include:

 

  • Market research depth interviews – a respondent is interviewed on a one to one basis on various themes and topics (preferably conducted face to face, although phone may be more practical and is more cost effective)

  • Market research paired depth interviews/triads – the same as a depth interview with an additional respondent or two who may be linked to the other in some way (e.g. a husband and wife or two key decision makers in a business).  These are particularly useful when ideas need to be bounced off each other or an understanding of the dynamics between the two or three respondents is key

  • Focus groups – normally a group discussion of 6-8 participants (mini-focus groups have 4-5 respondents) managed by a skilled moderator.  The benefit of this approach is the range of feedback in one session and interaction between different points of view

  • Market research observation – observing a respondent in their natural environment either through unobtrusive observation or by accompanied visits/shops that involve some interviewing

  • Workshops – these can take a variety of forms with the typical aim being to generate new ideas.  These can for example include staff and customers in one session

How DJS Research Add Value

 

Your qualitative research project will be conducted by a Senior Consultant (a researcher with at least 12 years experience) from start to finish.  They will have hands on involvement at all stages of the research, including attending all meetings, set up, topic guide design, conducting the majority, if not all of the qualitative fieldwork, project management, analysis and reporting.  

 

Our Senior Consultants are skilled in both qualitative and quantitative research, so if your project combines these two methods you would have one contact throughout.
